Birth house of St. Bernardino of Siena

Casa di San BernardinoThe building was completely restored and remodeled in the second half of 1800, according to the style of the time, by Giovanni Petrocchi that was sensitive to local history and art. He kept intact the room that, according to tradition, was the birthplace of Bernardino Albizeschi, better known as Saint Bernardino of Siena, who was born in Massa on September 8th, 1380 and died at L’Aquila, May 20th, 1444. The fine commemorative ceramic on the facade, which reproduces the emblem conceived by the Holy, is work of Pier Luigi Olla of Siena.
